3 Days Desert tour From Ouarzazate to Merzouga & Marrakech

3 days desert tour from Ouarzazate. In these 3 days / 2 nights you will visit so many fabulous places in a short time. The tour starts by visiting Todra gorges. Then drive to Merzouga Sahara desert. Where ride camels, witness magical sunset and sunrise and spend the night in a desert camp. Explore the Sahara desert of Merzouga in a 4×4 car, visit  Rissani traditional market. Then drive along Draa valley, visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Finally, cross the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. The tour ends in Marrakech.

1st Day : Ouarzazate – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Dunes – Camel trekking – overnight in a luxury camp ( 6 hours Drive )

We pick you up from your accommodation or the airport in Ouarzazate early in the morning, then drive through the Todra Valley, the course of Todra river has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains -Making a high red cliff-sided canyon. Feel free to wander in the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape. After that we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Free time for lunch on the way.

In the afternoon we reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Where you switch to camels and cross the sandy desert. A stop will be made for you to enjoy the magical sunset on top of a high dune. Then continue to the desert luxury camp, where you can enjoy the Berber drums music while dancing around the campfire, under vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp

2nd Day : Explore Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia ( Gnaoua village ) – Merzouga Lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove ( 2 Hours Drive )

After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga Desert ( Erg Chebbi ). The area offers sand dunes, a seasonal wild lake, fossil sites, small mines, and beautiful oases—ideal for light outdoor activities.

We start with an off-road drive to an old kohl (eyeliner) mine, then visit nomads in their woven tents and learn about their way of life over a cup of Berber tea. Next, continue to Khamlia to enjoy Gnaoua music and dance; many residents have roots in Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, stroll through a palm grove and drive a few kilometers to the wild lake of Merzouga (often called the flamingos’ lake).

Later, switch to camels to cross the dunes, stopping on a high dune for sunset, then continue to the luxury camp. Enjoy Berber drumming around the campfire under a sky full of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

3rd Day: Merzouga Sahara – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech ( 9 Hours Drive )

Wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. Enjoy breakfast, then return to Merzouga, meet your driver, and head west. We will stop for viewpoints and café breaks before reaching Ouarzazate, where you’ll have free time for lunch.

After lunch, continue toward Marrakech via the famous ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the series Game of Thrones. Cross the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass through the High Atlas Mountains to arrive in Marrakech, then transfer to the airport or your accommodation. End of the desert tour.

Note : If the 9 hour drive back to Marrakech feels too much for you :

• The tour can end in Errachidia airport, 2 hours from Merzouga, and it is one hour flight to Marrakech.  Flight is not Included, Airline : Ryanair, schedule : 3 Times a week
