3 days Morocco desert tour from Errachidia to Marrakech. During these 3 days and 2 nights, you will explore the desert area. Visit the nomads in their tents, also enjoy the music of Gnaoua and dance performance of Khamlia people. After that take a look at an old eyeliner mine. In addition to Merzouga wild life lake a few kilometres away from Merzouga. Then stroll in the palm trees grove, ride camels, and also enjoy the magical sunset and sunrise on the sand dunes. Furthermore you will spend a night in a camp located in the middle of the Sahara desert. Then we visit the Todra gorges and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Cross the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. The tour ends in Marrakesh

Itinerary : 3 days to the desert and Marrakech

3 Days in Morocco from errachidia

1st day: Arrival to Errachidia – Merzouga ( 2 hours Drive )

On the first day of your 3 day Merzouga desert tour, we pick you up from Errachidia (ERH) Airport, or your Accommodation and drive south to the Sahara dunes of Merzouga. Overnight in Merzouga.

Flight option :

  • Domestic flights from Marrakech, operate on 3 Days a week ( Ryanair ), Arrive between 7am or 3pm
  • Domestic flights from Casablanca operate on 7 Days a week ( Royal Air Maroc ). Arrive at Midnight.

2nd Day : Explore Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia ( Gnaoua village ) – Merzouga Lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove ( 2 Hours Drive )

After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga Desert ( Erg Chebbi ). The area offers sand dunes, a seasonal wild lake, fossil sites, small mines, and beautiful oases—ideal for light outdoor activities.

We start with an off-road drive to an old kohl (eyeliner) mine, then visit nomads in their woven tents and learn about their way of life over a cup of Berber tea. Next, continue to Khamlia to enjoy Gnaoua music and dance; many residents have roots in Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, stroll through a palm grove and drive a few kilometers to the wild lake of Merzouga (often called the flamingos’ lake).

Later, switch to camels to cross the dunes, stopping on a high dune for sunset, then continue to the luxury camp. Enjoy Berber drumming around the campfire under a sky full of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

 

3rd Day: Merzouga Sahara – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech ( 9 Hours Drive )

Wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. Enjoy breakfast, then return to Merzouga, meet your driver, and head west. We will stop for viewpoints and café breaks before reaching Ouarzazate, where you’ll have free time for lunch.

After lunch, continue toward Marrakech via the famous ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the series Game of Thrones. Cross the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass through the High Atlas Mountains to arrive in Marrakech, then transfer to the airport or your accommodation. End of the desert tour.

Note : If the 9 hour drive back to Marrakech feels too much for you :

  • The tour can end in Errachidia airport, 2 hours from Merzouga, and it is one hour flight to Marrakech.  Flight is not Included, Airline : Ryanair, schedule : 3 Times a week
  • Or Add an Additional Day to break the 9 hours drive and visit more places, you can consider : 4 Days from Errachidia to Merzouga & Marrakech

Is the 3 Day Tour Private or Shared ?

The 3 day tour is a private experience, ensuring that only the travelers making the inquiry will be participating. No additional individuals will join the tour. Our primary focus is on providing high-quality, personalized experiences, which is why we mainly offer private tours.

How Long is The Camel Ride ? What is the Alternative of Camels ?

The Camel ride is 40 minutes to 1.5 hours long, depending on which camp you are staying in.

* If you do not wish to do the camel ride, the camp has a 4×4 that takes people and luggage in and out of the camp, that you can use.

* Alternatively, ATVs can be arranged at an additional cost.

Is The Tent private ? Does it Have a private Shower ?

The Tent at the luxury camp is private, and has private bathrooms with hot running water.

What Happens to your luggage When you do the Camel Ride ?

During the Camel Ride, you will only take what’s necessary for the Ride.

The rest of your luggage will be transported in the camp’s 4×4, and you will find it waiting for you at the camp.

What is the best time to visit Morocco?

The best times to visit are spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November), when the weather is mild and pleasant across most regions. Winter time is great as well specially in the southern / Desert Part

What Type of Vehicles are Used ?

The Vehicle will be either a SUV (4×4) or a Minivan, both with A/C

Vehicle Details :

  • 4×4 : Land Cruiser Prado ( up to 4 pax )
  • Minivans : Mercedes Vito Tourer, Ford Tourneo Van or Similar ( up to 8 pax )

For groups larger than 8, a minibus that takes up to 18 pax can be provided.

Dietary Preferences

Please provide us with any dietary preferences you may have, and we will ensure that your needs are met. Kindly inform us of your preferences in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements for lunch stops and notify the Riad/Camp accordingly, as dinners are included in the package.

Tour Age Suitability

This tour is suitable for travellers of all ages. Please note that one day includes approximately nine hours of driving. Our vehicles are modern and comfortable, and we make regular stops along the way. If you’re not used to longer drive times, we can extend or customise the itinerary to suit your pace.

 

Pick-up and Drop-off Details

The Pick up can be either from the Airport or your accommodation in Errachidia

At the end of the 3 day tour, we will drop you off at your hotel or Riad in Marrakech, or the closest available parking lot. The tour typically concludes between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in Marrakech, but the exact duration may vary depending on the time spent at each location.
